HISTORY

In 2005, Entrepreneur and building owner Gary Allen decided he wanted to restore this fine dining establishment to its former glory as a “dinner destination”.

Drawing on a treasured family name, Gary opened “Porter’s On Merchant”. He hired the best chefs, bartenders and servers he could find, creating a perfect mix of upscale, gourmet fine dining, and a warm, friendly atmosphere that is second to none.

The interior of Porter’s On Merchant showcases this building’s (and Decatur’s) colorful history. From the stained-glass windows, beautiful Tiffany chandeliers, and level of craftsmanship that went into the antique wood details throughout, to the amazing bar created from elements of a former tenant’s jewelry display cases, you’ll see why we think we have the best location around.
